Counterpart Training and Student Exchange Program

The Department of Health Sciences has been implementing a project on maternal and child health care in Xepon District, Savannakhet Province, Laos since April 2023, commissioned by JICA partnership program. This year, as a part of citizen exchange, which is one of the main activities of the project, we invited three people related to the project from Laos for in-country training. We also invited three faculty members and two students from Savannakhet Provincial College of Health Sciences for the purpose of student exchange. The training included lectures on the maternal and child health care system and the current situation in Japan and Okinawa, and a study tour of different health-care facilities. In the student exchange program, students introduced each other’s culture and discussed public health issues with students from the Okinawa Prefectural College of Nursing. We would like to thank Yui Clinic, Yuuai Medical Center, and Public Health Center in Ginowan city for graciously accepting our visit.
