In March 2022, Kyohei Hatabu, a graduate of the Graduate School of Health Sciences of The University of Ryukyus, passed the certification exam in December 2023, and became a ” Certified Nurse Specialist (CNS) in cancer nursing”.
Twenty-five years have passed since the certification of CNS in cancer nursing began, and as of December 2023, there are 1,090 CNS in cancer nursing nationwide and 13 in Okinawa Prefecture.
Along with nursing care for cancer patients with complex problems and their families, their future activities are expected to include high-quality palliative care, consultation support, system development leading to radiation therapy nursing and chemotherapy nursing, and the promotion of education and research.
