On October 9, 2023, the 3rd Okinawa Palliative Care Study Group Annual Meeting was held at the Lecture Room of the Clinical Lecture Building, Faculty of Medicine, University of the Ryukyus (Nobuhisa Nakajima, Representative Director: Professor, Department of Department of Community Medicine and International Medicine, University of the Ryukyus Hospital; Noriko Teruya, President of the meeting: Professor, Faculty of Medicine, University of the Ryukyus).

Under the theme of “Palliative Care Supported by YIMARU,” the symposium brought together 90 participants engaged in palliative care in the prefecture (physicians, nurses, pharmacists, rehabilitation professionals, psychologists, nutritionists, etc.), and 16 oral presentations and symposia were held. The symposium was based on the theme of “Palliative Care Supported by the Community: Toward Realization of Seamless Community Palliative Care Coordination,” and active discussions were held on the nature of community palliative care coordination among local professions and facilities to realize the desired life of patients, providing a meaningful opportunity for face-to-face exchanges to build a system of coordination.
