The 4th Okinawa Palliative Care Study Group Academic Meeting (Representative: Dr. Nobuhisa Nakajima, Clinical Professor, Department of Community and International Medicine, University of the Ryukyus Hospital) was held on November 4, 2024 (Monday) at the Large Lecture Room on the 2nd floor of the Clinical Lecture Building, Faculty of Medicine, University of the Ryukyus.

The theme of this academic meeting was “Palliative Care of ‘Chimugukuru’ Connecting Across Regions and Generations,” and about 90 people engaged in palliative care in Okinawa (physicians, nurses, pharmacists, rehabilitation professionals, psychologists, nutritionists, medical social workers, etc.) gathered together for the meeting. The conference featured 14 oral presentations and a symposium. At the symposium, there was a lively discussion on human resource development to support palliative care in Okinawa Prefecture in the future. It was a meaningful exchange aimed at enhancing face-to-face collaboration in palliative care.
