The Ryudai Festival was held on 21-22 September 2024. As well as students, many high school students and local residents visited. First-year students from the School of Health Sciences ran drinks stand. Amidst the pandemic of COVID-19, there was a sense that the connections between students were becoming weaker, and this was seen as a problem, but we could feel that there was hope for improvement. From now until graduation, teamwork will be needed for each practical training and national exam preparation, so I am very happy that the students of each year have been able to come together. The following are the thoughts of first-year student Mr. Yoshita Heshiki
‘At the Ryukyu University Festival, the Health Sciences Department ran a drinks stand, where we recommended our own MOCKTAIL, which we had developed after many trial and error attempts. We were happy to see a wide range of people, from children to adults, come to our stand and enjoy our drink, which was a great success. Also, the Ryukyu University Festival was an opportunity for us to create a T-shirt for the department, and it was a festival that further strengthened the bonds between the students of the Health Sciences Department.’
The School of Health Sciences has an international exchange circle called URIC, which runs a popular stall every year selling ‘shaved ice from around the world’. This year, they ran the stall jointly with the Tropical Medicine Research Group from the School of Medicine. It was also great to see students with an interest in overseas countries starting to connect with each other across the whole campus. I also heard that they want to strengthen their connections with other universities in the future.
