On September 19, 2024, five students completed the Palliative Care Expert Nurse Training Course.
This course is one of the projects of the Cancer Professional Development Plan by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and is held in October every year for clinical nurses to improve their knowledge and skills in palliative care.
In this course, lectures and training on end-of-life care using the ELNEC-J program were provided to nurses, and six months later, they made presentations on their practices based on their learning. The presentations on many practices, such as decision support for terminally ill patients, addressing ethical issues, staff education and manual creation on postmortem care, and systemization of electronic medical records related to ACP (Advance Care Planning), led to meaningful discussions.
Upon completion of the course, participants were awarded the title of Palliative Care Expert Nurse and received a certificate of completion.
We will continue to improve the quality of palliative care in Okinawa Prefecture by continuing to offer the Certified Nurse Specialist in Oncology Nursing Training Course and the Palliative Care Expert Nurse Training Course!
